Dad Ops is operated by Hawser Labs. Dad Ops ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a newborn tracking application designed to help parents log diaper changes, feedings, appointments, and other caregiving activities during a baby's first year. This Privacy Policy describes what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
By downloading, installing, or using Dad Ops, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you use Dad Ops, you may enter the following information directly into the App:
- Baby profile details: baby's name and date of birth
- Diaper logs: type of diaper change (wet, dirty, or both), timestamp, and optional notes
- Feeding logs: feeding method (bottle, breast, or formula), quantity, unit of measurement, duration, timestamp, and optional notes
- Appointments: title, date and time, location, optional notes, and reminder preferences
- App settings: unit preferences (oz/ml), notification and reminder configurations, and quiet hours
Information Collected Automatically
-
Location data: If you choose to use the "Find Help" feature and grant location permission, the App accesses your device's approximate (coarse) location to help you find nearby pediatricians, urgent care centers, and emergency rooms. Location data is not stored, transmitted to our servers, or retained after use. It is passed directly to Apple Maps or Google Maps on your device.
-
Purchase and subscription data: If you subscribe to Dad Ops Pro, RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) processes your purchase. RevenueCat receives a device identifier and purchase transaction details from the App Store to validate your subscription status. We do not collect or store your payment information — all payment processing is handled by Apple or Google through their respective app stores.
How Your Information Is Stored
All personal and caregiving data you enter into Dad Ops is stored locally on your device. The App uses on-device storage (AsyncStorage) exclusively. Your baby's profile, diaper logs, feeding logs, appointments, and settings are never uploaded to any server operated by us.
We do not maintain a cloud database of user data. There is no account creation, no login, and no server-side user profiles.
How Your Information Is Used
We use the information described above solely to:
- Display your logged caregiving data within the App
- Calculate local analytics (feeding patterns, diaper counts, daily summaries)
- Detect cluster feeding patterns and provide informational alerts
- Schedule local device notifications for feeding reminders
- Show weekly developmental milestones based on your baby's date of birth
- Determine your subscription status (free trial or paid) to enable or restrict premium features
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. The App does not display third-party advertisements and does not share data for advertising purposes.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat provides subscription management for Dad Ops Pro. When you interact with the paywall or make a purchase, RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier and purchase transaction data from the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat uses this information solely to validate your subscription entitlement. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple Maps / Google Maps
When you use the "Find Help" feature and grant location permission, your approximate coordinates are passed to Apple Maps or Google Maps via a deep link to search for nearby medical facilities. This is a direct interaction between your device and the maps application — we do not act as an intermediary.
Apple App Store / Google Play Store
All subscription purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies govern how they handle your payment information.
Data Export
Dad Ops includes a data export feature in the Settings screen. You may export all of your logged data as a JSON file at any time. The export includes your baby profile, diaper logs, feeding logs, appointments, reminder settings, and app preferences. The exported file is generated locally on your device, and you control how it is shared (email, messaging apps, file storage, etc.).
Notifications
Dad Ops uses local notifications to remind you about scheduled feedings. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any external push notification server. You can enable, disable, or configure notification preferences within the App's Settings screen. You may also manage notification permissions through your device's system settings.
Children's Privacy
Dad Ops is designed for use by parents and caregivers. The App records information about a baby (name, date of birth, and caregiving logs) that is entered by a parent or caregiver. This information is stored locally on the parent's or caregiver's device and is not transmitted to any server.
The App does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App without parental consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times:
- Delete individual records: You can delete individual diaper logs, feeding logs, or appointments within the App.
- Reset all data: You can clear all App data through the Settings screen.
- Uninstall the App: Uninstalling Dad Ops removes all locally stored data from your device.
We do not retain any copy of your data on any server, so there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
Security
Your data is stored on your device using standard platform storage mechanisms. The App communicates over HTTPS (encrypted connections) for any network requests. We do not implement custom encryption beyond what the operating system and platform provide. No user data is transmitted to or stored on external servers under our control.
Your Choices
- Location: You may deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. The App only accesses your location when you actively tap "Use My Location" in the Find Help screen.
- Notifications: You may disable notifications in the App's Settings or through your device's system notification settings.
- Subscription: You can manage or cancel your Dad Ops Pro subscription through the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Data export: You may export your data at any time from the Settings screen.
- Data deletion: You may delete your data at any time as described in the Data Retention and Deletion section above.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
Medical Disclaimer
Dad Ops is a caregiving tracking tool and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The information displayed in the App (including milestone information, feeding patterns, and cluster feeding alerts) is for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical concerns about your child.
